PROJECTS
Orion’s pool of 40 available staff are working full time on land development projects throughout the region and country; from Tuatapere (Southland) to Whangaroa Harbour (Northland) our teams are busy doing the work they love. We have outlined a few projects below that highlight the typical work we thrive on.

Wairere Wetland - 2010
This current project involves creating a new 2ha rural residential block and protecting wetland areas on a rural property in Rodney District.
Challenges: The wetland was in a severely degraded state and did not meet Council’s current requirements. However, our team worked hard to find a solution and the Consent has been granted.

Peak Road Bridge - APRIL 2009
The assessment, design and replacement of an old unsafe farm access bridge involved survey and engineering teams.
Challenges: Tight timeframes required quick work by our teams as the assessment of the old bridge confirmed it was in a dangerous condition. This in turn meant that vital crossings by fuel suppliers, cattle trucks and farm suppliers could not be made. The survey team quickly mobilised and produced a topographical plan allowing the engineers to design a new bridge to fit existing abutments, the design was granted a Consent and contractors were on site under our engineers’ supervision to install the new bridge and thus allow the farm to continue running with minimal disruption.
